At Computex 2025, Patriot launched the PV593 and the PV563, and we have covered that in this article. Now, they have launched the Viper PV563 and Patriot PA523 in their Gen 5.0 catalogue. The PA523 targets the low-end users at slower Gen 5.0 performance while the PV563 is focused towards gamers and enthusiasts under budget.

Viper PV563: Premium Performance Without Flagship Pricing

The Viper PV563 represents Patriot’s strategic approach to compete in the PCIe Gen5 category. They have dedicated the Viper series to gaming, but this drive is specifically targeted at gamers and enthusiasts on a budget. This mid-range drive delivers sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds reaching 11,000 MB/s under the NVMe 2.0 specification. Available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, the 4TB model features impressive endurance ratings of up to 3,000 TBW (Terabytes Written). It will have a five-year limited warranty period.

The PV563 is a DRAM-Less SSD utilizing the Host Memory Buffer (HMB) and dynamic SLC caching technologies. The DRAM-Less design allows Patriot to achieve flagship-level performance while maintaining competitive pricing. The drive features 3D TLC NAND flash memory along with the Maxiotek MAP1806a 8-channel controller, built on TSMC’s advanced 6nm process technology.

The PV563 is going to compete with the mid-range and low-end Gen 5.0 drives like Crucial T700 and T705.

Patriot PA523: Accessible Entry Point to Gen5 Performance

The PA523 serves as Patriot’s entry-level Gen5 offering, providing an accessible pathway for users transitioning from Gen4 or SATA-based storage. Despite its positioning, the PA523 delivers substantial performance with sequential read speeds of up to 10,000 MB/s and write speeds reaching 8,500 MB/s. This represents a dramatic performance leap over previous-generation drives, with capabilities that significantly exceed many Gen4 SSDs.

Patriot Memory’s recently launched PCIe Gen5 x4 M.2 SSDs: Viper PV563 and Patriot PA523, both with up to 4TB capacity. This one is also a DRAM-Less SSD.

Like its higher-tier sibling, the PA523 adopts a single-sided M.2 2280 design, making it ideal for thin laptops, handheld gaming consoles, and small form factor systems where space constraints are critical. The drive emphasizes power efficiency, consuming up to 80% less power than typical Gen4 drives while maintaining stable thermal performance.

Availability

The company has not yet announced official pricing for either drive, though industry observers expect both models to significantly undercut existing Gen5 offerings from major manufacturers. Early availability appears focused on Asian and European markets, with North American distribution expected to follow.
