After the big launches of Kingston Fury Renegade G5, Samsung 9100 Pro, and WD Black SN8100, Crucial has officially announced its 3rd Gen 5.0 NVMe on the 19th of May. The Crucial T710 was introduced by the company at the Computex Taipei 2025. The launch date is the 1st of June 2025. This launch follows the very popular Crucial T700 and T705. The company might be thinking of utilizing the maximum bandwidth from the Gen 5.0 interface, and this is their best effort until now.
The T705 is branded with a promise of maximum sequential read/write speed of 14900 MB/s and 13,800 MB/s. The random read/write IOPS are promised to be 2.3 million and 2.3 million. So, in terms of sequential read/write performance, this could be the fastest SSD, beating even the Micron 4600, SN8100, and 9100 Pro. However, the real-world performance will be checked and compared once the drive and its benchmarks are released.
In terms of random read/write IOPS, only the 9100 Pro is able to beat it, that too only in the random write IOPS. So, overall, this SSD has great specifications, which can lead this drive all the way to the top of benchmark scores in the Gen 5.0 NVMe category. Unfortunately, we get no 8TB variant, which would disappoint many buyers, but that is the case with most of the Gen 5.0 drives until now. So, maybe we’ll have to wait until the 8TB Gen 5.0 becomes the new normal.
This release was accompanied by the Crucial X10 portable SSD that comes with capacities up to 8 TB. But we are currently focused on the T710 only.

What does the T710 have to offer?
In their official presentation (reported by Tom’s Hardware), they have compared the drive with their own T705. So, the T710 has 28% higher random read IOPS and 42% higher random write IOPS than the T705.
Another major point is that the T710 is more power-efficient, able to work at 67% less power per random read IOPS. In terms of per random write IOPS, it will use 80% less power compared to the T705.
The T705 was focused mainly on the desktop PCs because of its bulky heatsink. However, the single-sided design and slim heatsink make the T710 suitable for notebooks as well. The heatsink of T710 is 47% slimmer than that of T705. The overall focus of the drive is on serious gamers, professional creators like video editors, and enthusiasts. So, anyone looking for the best of the best will be the ideal buyer for the Crucial T710.
Besides, the SSD has a small LED strip, which is most probably customizable. It is minimal in design but will add to your PC’s overall looks.
Although the drive has some clear advantages in terms of size and theoretical specifications, the real-world performance and the upper edge will be recognized once the drive is out. For that, we’ll have to wait till June.
This update was given by Crucial on the official X account and the product was showcased in the Computex Tiapei.
