Conclusion
Silicon Power UD90 is a good SSD for the budget it comes at. Being one of the cheapest Gen 4.0 SSDs, you can expect nothing more than what it has to offer. Very few SSDs are capable of offering the performance that it offers. However, it is a DRAM-less SSD and has QLC NAND flash in most models. So, it is not suitable for high-end users, professional gamers, and enthusiasts. In some cases, you can see serious performance drops just because there is no DRAM and it has QLC NAND flash. Although companies employ good strategies on the software level to compensate for the QLC NAND flash, like enhancing error correction and garbage collection but the QLC has its drawbacks in terms of reliability and performance.
Read Write performance, along with the real-world performance, is pretty good. I have equipped it with the Intel Core i5 12600K and it cause no issues whatsoever.
Heat management and power consumption are well managed. But, it doesn’t come with a heatsink variant, and for moderate to heavy workloads, I would advise going for a third-party heatsink. All in all, Silicon Power UD90 is a good SSD, and I have been using it for the last 2 years pretty aggressively. So, you can trust it. However, if you can spend a little more, I would suggest you look for a TLC SSD even though it is DRAM-Less. Going for the TLC SSD with DRAM is the ideal case.
